Being A Responsible Healthcare Consumer

Use the resources linked above in order to answer the following questions (which are the objectives to be mastered in this lesson):

	1. Explain how to evaluate the accuracy, validity, and reliability of health information.
	2. Discuss criteria for determining when, where, and how to choose health care.

3. Describe terms related to common medical procedures.

	4. Explain common diagnostic tests including a basic physical examination.
	5. Discuss current economic and social factors that might impact the quality of your healthcare.
	6. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various types of health insurance.
	7. Explain the steps a person should follow when choosing a health care provider.

Assignments:
1. Answer the above questions (objectives). E-mail them to the instructor in MS Word format.

2. Complete Assessment Activities 15-1 and 15-3 found at the end of chapter 15 in your textbook. Answer the follow-up questions at the very end of the assessments and e-mail a report to the instructor in MS Word format.

3. Scan the major news websites for healthcare related articles. Write a brief description of at least 2 news stories related to healthcare and how you feel about them. Your report should be about 1/2 page for each news story. E-mail them to the instructor in MS Word format.
