Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease


Use the resources linked above in order to answer the following questions (which are the objectives to be mastered in this lesson):

bullet1. Describe the circulation of blood through the heart, including the blood flow to the heart muscle itself (myocardium).

bullet2. Discuss the development of cardiovascular disease during the 20th century in the United States.

bullet3. List and describe the different types of cardiovascular diseases and the manner in which they develop.

bullet4. List and describe the risk factors for coronary heart disease and ways to reduce them.

bullet5. Analyze and discuss your personal lifestyle practices and identify those contributing to coronary heart disease and those likely to prevent heart disease.

 
bullet6. Describe the warning signs and action necessary for a person experiencing  a heart attack. 

 
bullet7. Discuss the options for medical treatment of heart disease.
